The girls were very sad after he left. The just sat together in the corner making sad little noises and didn't go into their coop at night as Mr Rooster normally told them when to go to bed. Poor lonely little chickens.
On a happier note we have trained our dog (half Border Collie/half Black Labrador) not to chase the chickens and they have made such good friends that she now shares her lunch with them. Cute dog.

That's cute....
ReplyDeleteOur dog doesn't let anything near her food especially the pesky chooks lol.
ReplyDeleteShame about the rooster, at least you will have a peaceful hen house. We dont have any roosters at the moment either, way too noisy and disruptive to the girls...
Goodbye Mr Roooster
ReplyDeleteYou will have to share how you trained your dog not to eat your chickens! :) We're getting new chicks in the spring and would like to allow them more access to the out of doors (past their run) at the same time as the dog! :)
ReplyDeleteHave a great day!
Sarah
I too would love to hear how you trained your dog to be nice to chickens. My dog chances anything... and we would love to break him of this habit!
